For our latest edition of Social Media Fail I've chosen to come at it from a different angle. Rather than simply focusing on how businesses have got their social media efforts wrong, today we bring you an example how when done correctly social media can be incredibly powerful way of turning negative sentiment around.

Australian telecommunications company Optus recently began receiving a lot of complaints on it's Facebook page for it's multilingual advertising. The response from one particular customer service representative' 'Dan From Optus' is receiving considerable praise for his firm yet polite replies to the frankly bigoted complaints.
With a stream of negative posts to it's page Dan's responses showed how a responsive and flexible social media team can be turned into a positive.
