Amplify was launched two years ago as a way brands could take advantage of real-time excitement of TV events to redistribute it to it's followers and beyond on Twitter.
However advertisers using it found it to be a cumbersome feature to use. In response, Twitter has automated the process to simplify it's use and reinvigorate it's applications.
